The Dandi Beach is undoubtedly
the key attraction of your tour. You can capture captivating views of the sun
rising as well as setting while you hike along the sandy shores. Long walks,
family picnics and host of other activities are available at this beach. Other spots
that are a must-see include the dargah of Sayed Sadat, Padamdungari Eco
campsite, Shri Chintamani Parshavnath Temple, Somnath Mahadev Temple, Unai

Dandi village is part of the
Navasari district which was formerly known as Jalalpore. Navasari lies in the
Southeastern region of Gujarat and Navsari town which is the district
headquarters is located at a distance of 16kms from the beach and hamlet.
Dandi Beach lying on the
coastline that Gujarat has with the Arabian Sea is one such spot. The very
mention of the name ‘Dandi’ evokes nostalgia as one is instantly reminded of
the Independence Movement that the site spearheaded. The entire stretch from
Sabarmati to Dandi has been given a facelift in order to promote the area as a
holidaymakers’ hub.
Remembered for the famous
movement of Mahatma Gandhi in the year 1930, this beach saw the protest against
the British Monopoly of salt production. Today it serves as a popular tourist
attraction and is among the well-developed beaches in the state of Gujarat.

October to March when the weather is perfect for touring and sightseeing.

amusement of visitors. The serene environment of the beach and the gliding
waters of Arabian Sea make it a good relaxation and photography spot. Along

about the history of India.
History
It was in the year 1930 that the ‘Father of the
Nation’-Mahatma Gandhi undertook a long and arduous trek starting from
Sabarmati Ashram situated in Ahmedabad that terminated in Dandi Beach. Gandhi,
along with those who had joined him in the march vowed to end British rule in
India by picking up a handful of brackish mud with water. Gandhiji and his
acolytes walked almost continuously for nearly 25 days before reaching Dandi
seacoast. This onward march came to be known as the ‘Dandi March’ or the ‘Dandi
Salt March’. There is a sleepy hamlet by the same name near the beach.
